50 Pounds Down!
Yesterday, I talked about milestones. And today, I got to leave my stone at a pretty significant mile! 50lbs gone! I tried to pick up 50lbs worth of dumbbells and my back said “heeeeck no, I don’t want it.” I am so, so proud of myself! I celebrated ME and my body. I gave myself a high five and laughed.
We had a crazy night last night. Mawa is quite a handful right now. In the midst of caring for her, we were changing our daughter and noticed she had a huge and scary looking allergic reaction on her tummy. And I look at my other dog who has come to see what the fuss was, and he has bright red feet from an allergic reaction as well. Hydrocortisone on both of them and we waited to see how they did. Pupper looked better by the end of the night, but my daughter’s reaction was spreading so we took her to urgent care. We got home really late so I woke up too late for the gym this morning. I made up for it though!
I decided to celebrate my accomplishment by taking my daughter out. I put the fear from our last outing in a tiny box and shoved it into the closet in the back of my mind. I looked at her and said “Bryn, would you like to go to the store with Mommy?” She lit up with joy and ran to get her shoes. I loaded her up in the car, which is getting easier every time, and we set out. We went to the pharmacy to get her medicine and then to the dollar store! I lifted her into the cart thinking, “I have lost more weight than she weighs” and couldn’t help but smile at that. We got a couple little toys for her, and I got a travel size container for my body wash (my gym bag is getting crowded and way too heavy) and did a self-check out. All of this on my own two feet, and the pain was completely tolerable. I sweated like crazy, one of my body’s responses to pain is always to get overheated. As we walked out of the store, hand in hand because I’m never letting her go again, the cool fall breeze hit the sweat beads on my brow and neck, and it felt sooooo good. And my daughter loved every moment of our adventure together today. Her mood and attitude have been angelic ever since.
We came home and took a little nap before going to see my Nan. She had her own victory today! She had to buy a size small in sweatpants and is in an 8 in jeans for the first time in a decade. I’m so freaking proud of her too! We celebrated together and looked through toy catalogs for ideas for gifts for my kiddo. I love just sitting and talking with my Nan. She’s such a beautiful soul and I’m always at peace around her. It was so restorative after the incredibly stressful week I’ve had. Thank you, Nana!
